In detail
A dachshund is a long dog on short legs, with a chest that drops low between the front legs like the keel of a boat.
Seen from the side, it is the deepest part of the dog, and the part a harness has to sit on.
So the padded panel here is wide, and it covers the breastbone. From there it runs back between the front legs in a Y and leaves the shoulders clear. The neck loop and the chest strap adjust on their own, so each one can follow your dog's measurement. Click the side buckles, and the leash goes on the metal D-ring on the back, between the shoulder blades.

How to use it

Open both side buckles and loosen the straps.

Slip the neck opening over your dog's head, or lay the harness on the floor and let your dog step in with the front legs on either side of the chest panel.

Bring the sides up and click both buckles.

Tighten the neck and chest straps until two fingers slide flat under each strap and no more.

Clip the leash to the D-ring on the back.

The first few times, put it on indoors with a treat and let your dog wear it for a few minutes before you go out.

Which size for a dachshund?
It depends on the dog more than the breed: a miniature and a standard are far apart, and a deep chest can call for a bigger size than the weight suggests. Measure the chest at its deepest point, just behind the front legs, and the neck at its base, then check the size chart.
Where should the padded panel sit?
On the breastbone, at the front of that deep chest, with the Y running back between the front legs. If it sits high on the neck or hangs loose under the chest, adjust the straps and check the size again.
Is it the same as the Corgi Harness?

How do I wash it?
By hand, with mild soap and warm water, then rinse it well. Let it air dry completely before the next walk: no dryer and no direct heat.
Can I lift my dachshund by the harness?
No. The D-ring and the straps are for the leash, not a handle for lifting: pick your dog up in your arms. The harness is not a car restraint or a seat belt either, and never leave your dog tied up or alone in it.
How do shipping and returns work?
Shipping is included in the price; there is no separate delivery charge. Orders ship within 1 to 3 business days, then take 7 to 12 business days in transit, so allow about 8 to 15 business days from order confirmation. We deliver to the 50 US states and Washington, D.C. Import duties and customs fees are paid by us. If a carrier ever asks you for any, contact us and we will cover it in full. Unused items in their original condition and packaging can be returned within 30 days of delivery. You can try a harness, collar or leash on your clean, dry dog indoors for a few minutes to check the size; once it has been worn outside, washed or chewed, or carries dog hair or odor, it cannot be returned for a change of mind. Opened Poop Bags cannot be returned. A product that arrives defective, damaged or wrong, or shows a defect within those 30 days, is replaced or refunded, even if it has been used. Return shipping for a change of mind or a wrong size is paid by the customer; we send the return address by e-mail, and it may be outside the United States. For a defective, damaged or wrong item, we pay it. You can cancel at no charge until your order ships.
