Accessibility

Last updated November 6, 2026

We want everyone to be able to browse KEEL, choose a harness and its size, read about our products and their fit and safety information, and place an order once the shop opens, whatever device, browser or assistive technology they use. This page explains what we aim for, what we have done, where we know we still fall short, and how to get help.

Our goal

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.2) at Level AA, the standard widely used for websites in the United States. We built the site with it in mind, we check our pages against it, and we keep improving when we find a problem or someone tells us about one.

What we have done

  • Structure: every page has a clear title, headings in a logical order, and the same header and footer, so you always know where you are. A "Skip to content" link lets people who use a keyboard or a screen reader go straight to the main content.
  • Keyboard: the menu, the product filters, the product images, the color and size buttons, the size guide, the quantity controls, the cart and every link can be reached and used with a keyboard, and the element you are on is clearly outlined, on the light and the dark sections alike.
  • Choosing a color: each color button is named with its color in words, such as Moss or Cherry, and the color you chose is written next to the picker, in the cart and in the order summary. Information is never given by color alone.
  • Choosing a size: each size button shows its chest range in text. The size guide opens in a dialog you can use and close with a keyboard, and the full chart is also on its own size guide page, as a table, in inches and in centimeters. If you add a harness without a size, a message in words tells you what is missing.
  • Contrast: we chose text and background colors with enough contrast to meet Level AA on both the light and the dark sections of the site, the names next to the color buttons included.
  • Images: product images have text descriptions, and images that are only decorative are hidden from screen readers.
  • Details in words: what is in the box, how to use each product, its specs, its sizes and its materials are written as text, not only shown in pictures.
  • Safety in words: the fit and safety information for each product is always visible on its page, as plain text, and all of it is gathered on our Fit & Safety page.
  • Motion: if you turn on reduced motion on your device, our animations and transitions are turned off or kept to a minimum. Nothing on the site flashes, and no sound plays by itself.
  • Text and zoom: you can enlarge text and zoom the page in your browser, and the layout adapts to small screens without scrolling sideways.
  • Plain language: our policies and product pages are written in short, plain sentences.

Known limits

  • The cart, the color and size pickers, the size guide dialog and the delivery estimate need JavaScript. If JavaScript is turned off, you can still read every page, including the full size chart on the size guide page.
  • Our product images are digital renders that show the shape, the parts and the color of a product, which a short text description can only partly convey. A color can also look different from one screen to another. Ask us, and we will describe a product or a color in more detail.
  • Online payment is being set up. Once it opens, payments will be handled on the payment form of a third-party payment processor, whose design we do not control. If you have trouble paying, we will help you by e-mail.
  • Older browsers may not show every part of the site as intended.

Getting help by e-mail

If something on this website is hard to use, e-mail us at contact@keeldogs.com with "Accessibility" in the subject line. We reply within 2 business days. We can:

  • send you any information on this website, such as a product description, its details, its size chart, its care and safety information, or one of our policies, as plain text in an e-mail;
  • help you choose a size from your dog's chest and neck measurements, and describe a color in words;
  • once online payment opens, help you place an order, at the same price and on the same terms as online.

Please never send your card number by e-mail: we will never ask for it.

Tell us what to improve

If you find a page, a button or a description that does not work for you, please tell us which page it was, what you were trying to do, and the device, browser and any assistive technology you use. We read every message, answer it, and fix what we can as soon as we can.

We wrote this statement on November 6, 2026, as the website was built. We check the website against these guidelines whenever it changes in a significant way, and update this statement when we do.

For deep chests and short legs.

On a boat, the keel is the deep line that runs under the hull. Dog people use the same word for the deep chest of a dachshund, a corgi or a Frenchie: the part of the body a harness has to fit first.

KEEL is operated by Minelia LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company.

We deliver to the 50 US states and D.C.

Payment methods, once online checkout opens: Credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover), Apple Pay and Google Pay.

Check the fit and the buckles before every walk. A harness is not a car restraint. Never leave a dog tied up or alone in a harness or collar.
